The Wear Rivers Trust
Working with the community

The Trust is an independent organisation formed by the merger of the River Wear Environmental Trust and The Weardale Environmental Trust. Based in County Durham the trust works with the local community throughout the catchment form Weardale to the lower Wear to carry out a series of environmentally based projects and events.

It has been set up as a non-profit making company limited by guarantee. Since its formation it has carried out a number of projects in Weardale and established links with environmental organisations, local community groups and schools.

The Trust aims to build on its existing partnerships by working to identify projects which will benefit everyone connected with the Wear catchment from Weardale to the Wear Estuary, to make sure its local communities, beautiful landscape, and rich flora and fauna, survive and develop.
