Rivers and Fisheries Trusts Scotland, the new representative organisation of all the Scottish Fisheries Trusts and Foundations is slowly but steadily coming into being. Growing out of the existing Association of West Coast Fisheries Trusts, there now seems widespread agreement that a representative body for all Trusts in Scotland is desirable. A caretaker working group has been charged with setting the organisation up and establishing a constitution and the organisation will hopefully be launched formally in the spring of next year at the first RAFTS conference. Meanwhile work continues in establishing further fisheries trusts throughout Scotland with new organisations being considered for the Ness and Beauly and in Orkney. RAFTS also hopes to have a good working relationship with the Association of Rivers Trusts (ART) which is evolving in England and Wales.
