In this section of the ART website, you will be able to find information and guidance on starting up and running your own rivers trust. There is a huge body of information freely available on setting up and running a charity. In particular, the Charity Commission has a first class website (www.charity-commission.gov.uk) and publishes a comprehensive range of very readable guides and information regarding charities in general. However, because the Charity Commission has to cater for all charities of every size, type and form, there is sometimes difficulty in filtering out aspects of greatest relevance to river trusts. This governance section is designed to address this difficulty, and is intended to complement, not replace, the Charity Commission’s guides and the overriding laws and regulations relating to charities.
