Chairman - Ian Gregg, OBE
Ian is the former Chairman of Greggs plc that bears his name and became Chairman of ART on its incorporation in 2004.  He has over 25 years’ experience of the rivers trust movement through the Tweed Foundation and Eden Rivers Trust.  He has also actively participated in NASCO, Atlantic Salmon Trust and many other community, conservation and environmental organisations. Ian was the inspiration behind Salmonid 21C, which highlighted the importance of habitat and environmental issues to the wider angling audience.

Dr Dylan Bright
Dylan is widely recognised for his fresh water biology expertise and sits on the Atlantic Salmon Trust’s Honorary Scientific panel.  He is particularly well known for his leadership in the field of salmon and trout genetics.  He was promoted to chief executive of Westcountry Rivers Trust in 2005 and has wide expertise of public funding bids and delivery.  He joined the ART Board in 2006.

Dave Brown
Dave has over 20 years’ experience in the University and environmental consultancy sectors; conducting over 800 environmental research/consultancy projects and supervising over 100 postgraduate research projects. He has frequent contact at a senior level with clients in government and industry.  He holds committee positions with various charities and is Honorary Scientific Director of Sussex Ouse Conservation Society. He was elected to the ART Board in 2009. 

James Carr
James was formerly Chairman of the Cumberland Building Society. He is a trustee of Eden Rivers Trust, the Atlantic Salmon Trust and Chairman of the Salmon & Trout Association.  He has been a trustee of ART since 2004 and brings extensive knowledge of finance, governance and land management issues.

Philip Lord
Formerly managing director of his own building company, Philip has been the driving force behind the Ribble Catchment Conservation Trust, of which he is Chairman.  His enthusiasm and practical experience in achieving habitat improvements on the Ribble catchment and his knowledge of water abstraction issues is immensely valuable.  He has been an ART trustee since 2004.

Prof Steve Ormerod
Steve is Professor of Ecology in the School of Biosciences at Cardiff University.  He brings a vast breadth of technical ecological knowledge to the Board, in particular related to lakes, rivers and wetlands, acidification and climatic effects.  He also has experience of working with rivers trusts in Wales, particularly South East Wales Rivers Trust.  He is Chairman of the RSPB Wales Advisory Committee and joined the ART Board in 2008.

Donald Patterson
Donald is lead partner of a chartered accountant practice in West Wales and brings strong financial and governance knowledge to the Board.  He has extensive experience of grant funding and a long term interest in rivers and angling, particularly on the Teifi.  He is founder Chairman of the Teifi Rivers Trust and the first Chairman of Afonydd Cymru, which was formed in 2008 to oversee the development of rivers trusts in Wales. He joined the ART Board in 2008.

Chris Poupard
Chris has a career of over 40 years in fisheries, including executive director of the Salmon & Trout Association.  He is currently chair of Thames RFERAC and chair of NASCO’s accredited NGO Group. He was a founder trustee of Thames Rivers Restoration Trust and became chairman in 2009.  He was appointed to the ART Board in 2009.

Nick Yonge
Nick is the executive director of Tweed Foundation and in his past had commercial trout interests.  He has also been a Tweed Commissioner and is a trustee of RAFTS, which is ART’s sister organisation in Scotland.  He has been an ART trustee since 2004.
